VACANCY: Academic Specialist (Cyber Community of Practice)

Duties

Summary

The College of Information and Cyberspace (CIC) is recruiting for an Academic Specialist (Cyber Community of Practice).

The CIC serves as the Department of Defense's (DoD's) principal educational resource for the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and their senior staffs and the Joint Staff for education in the cyber domain. As such, the CIC is responsible for a number of programs associated with Information Operations and Cyberspace education.

NDU develops joint warfighters and other national security leaders through rigorous academics, research and engagement to serve the common defense.

This is a Title 10 Excepted Service Appointment. Appointment is not to exceed 3 years with the possibility for extension. Applications for this vacancy require a narrative assessment questionnaire to be completed by each applicant and uploaded as a separate document with submission. The narrative questions are listed in the "How You Will Be Evaluated" section and must be completed as a separate document and uploaded with other required documents.


Responsibilities

Supports the Chancellor in executing duties and responsibilities of functional lead for Information Operations (IO) and Cyberspace the program by developing and maintaining an understanding and awareness of how (Information Operations (IO) ) and cyberspace education is accomplished and should be accomplished across NDU.

Crafts and executes an action plan, to assess NDU's IO and Cyberspace education, identifies and addresses areas not adequately covered, and works with components to address gaps.

Schedules, organizes, conducts, and documents working group meetings and follows up with tasks resulting from these meetings.

Oversees and manages the Cyber Community of Practice (CCoP) for NDU and its components, serving as its primary organizer and administrator.

Develops and maintains CCoP charter, membership roster, processes, etc.

Develops CCoP specific programs/events such as special topic focused brown-bag sessions, professional development workshops, salon discussions, fireside chats, etc.

Collaborates and supports CIC Director of Strategic Engagement in the execution of college conferences, workshops, and symposia.
