Wilson is a native of Nashville, Tennessee and was commissioned through the Navy Reserve Officer Training program at the George Washington University (GWU) in 2002. Since joining the U.S. Navy, he has served in a variety of logistical and operational experiences on both active and reserve duty that span the service, joint, and interagency levels to include Operation Iraqi Freedom, Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa, Hurricane Katrina Relief, F-35 Lightning II Joint Program Office, and the Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Innovation Group.

 

VornDick holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations with a minor in Chinese from GWU; a Master of Liberal Studies in International Relations from Harvard University with Dean’s academic honors; a Master of Arts in National Security Studies from the U.S. Naval War College; and a Master of Science in Government Information Leadership from the National Defense University College of Information and Cyberspace. He has also studied at the East China Normal University in Shanghai, INSEEC Business School in Bordeaux, and at the Universit√© of Paris X.

 

Since affiliating with the U.S. Navy Reserve, he consults on China, emerging technology, and national security and is an associate at the China Aerospace Studies Institute. His research and thoughts have been published in global media, think tanks, and academic journals to include The New York Times, Center for Strategic and International Studies, and the Journal of Information Warfare

 

His highest personal awards include the Surface Warfare Supply Corp Pin and Defense Meritorious Service Medal as well as various unit and theater-specific citations.
