Josh Baughman has served as the Executive Assistant at the National Defense University (NDU) College of Information and Cyberspace (CIC) since summer 2016. Major areas of responsibility include brand management, marketing, social media, publication, event planning, strategic engagement, website content management, acquisition, fund raising and advisor to the Chancellor (and other senior leadership).
Before coming to NDU, Josh worked in China in journalism in print media as both an editor and correspondent as well as television as a host, director, writer and producer. In 2013 he was awarded the Boren Fellowship for rising national security leaders to work and study at Tsinghua University in Beijing. He has also worked at the US Air Force Academy in the Military and Strategic Studies Department and the Eisenhower Center for Space and Defense Studies. In his hometown of Louisville Kentucky he worked for the Mayor in the Revitalization department with a focus on addressing poverty in the city.
Josh is a published author in the field of nuclear energy and has expertise in China space. Current areas of interests in research include artificial intelligence, branding/marketing and China.
He holds a BA with a double major in International Relations and German from Centre College and an MA in International Security from the Josef Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver and has attained professional proficiency in Mandarin and German.
