About

Our institution is, again, designated as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity (NCAE-C) by the National Security Agency (NSA). During the first year of the NSA's center of academic excellence (CAE) program, two decades ago, we were designated a CAE. As of 4 May 2023, we have been designated a CAE in Cyber Defense (CAE-CD). Find out more about the program here

Our Center is a university-wide resource designed to foster cybersecurity awareness across various disciplines and colleges. The CIC mission is to educate joint warfighters, national security leaders, and the cyber workforce on the cyber domain and information environment to lead, advise, and advance national and global security.

The Center supports the development of multi-disciplinary education, including science, engineering, space, policy, and national and global security, and is involved in the shaping of cybersecurity education through contribution to curricula and faculty development.

The Center also serves as a portal for cyber defense / cybersecurity education to craft the next generation of cybersecurity professionals. These leaders will defend our nation’s citizens, industry, government, and academic institutions. Headed by a primary point of contact and an assistant point of contact, the Center is supported by cybersecurity faculty members from across the CIC. An advisory council (AC) made up of industry and other organizations meets and provides oversight and guidance.

The National Security Agency (NSA) Information Assurance Courseware Evaluation (IACE) Program has indicated our courseware meets all of the elements of the Committee on National Security Systems (CNSS) National Training Standards for Information Systems Security (INFOSEC) Professionals, NSTISSI No. 4011 and System Administrators (SA), CNSSI No. 4013.
