Relevant Professional Experience:
Prior to coming to the CIC, Mr. Newman spent nearly 20 years in private industry, supporting the Federal Government in several capacities. His particular focus has been on the development of methods and techniques to implement a Federated Enterprise Architecture for large complex organizations. Currently, he supports OSD(NII) for the DoD Architecture Framework and Net-centric Operations Warfare Reference Model. Mr. Newman is an active member of the government sponsored Chief Architecture Forum, a support committee to OMB’s Federal Enterprise Architecture Program Management Office. Before becoming interested in Enterprise Architecture, Mr. Newman was a programmer, developing and managing full-text database systems.
Scholarship:
Mr. Newman regularly presents on a variety of topics at conferences such as the ArchitectureGov and the Department of Defense Architecture Conferences. He has published articles in Government Computer News and is an editor for the Journal of Enterprise Architecture. His scholarly interests include enterprise architecture development and implementation, data architectures, system concepts of operation and technical architecture, performance management through the balanced scorecard, IT strategic plans, governance procedures, process reengineering, IRM policy & procedures, and IT capital planning processes.
