CDR Deanna Fisher

A native of Balaklava, South Australia, Australia, CDR Deanna Fisher was commissioned in 2005 through Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps at Virginia Tech.

Designated a Surface Warfare Officer, she served as sea as the Electronic Warfare Officer in USS STOUT (DDG 55), USS GONZALEZ (DDG 66) and USS LABOON (DDG 58), deploying in DDG CREW SIERRA as part of the East Coast Sea Swap initiative to support Operation IRAQI FREEDOM. She served as the Ship’s Navigator in USS WHIDBEY ISLAND (LSD 41) with a second deployment in support of Counter-Piracy Operations off the coast of Africa. In 2009, she deployed to Iraq/Kuwait as a Counter-IED Instructor for Joint CREW Composite Squadron-1and completed shore duty at NCIS Headquarters in Washington DC. CDR Fisher transferred to the Reserve Component in 2013.

CDR Fisher’s first assignment in the Reserve Component was NR COMTENTHFLT supporting Fleet Cyber Command/U.S. TENTH Fleet, Fort George G. Meade, Maryland, where she served as N11 Admin Officer, and N31 Current Operations Officer/Senior Watch Officer. She completed a year of ADSW at USCYBERCOM in the J35/J3F-DODIN division. Next, she served as MSC Cargo Afloat Rigging Team Detachment OIC in Youngstown, Ohio and as N1 Admin/Shipboard Mentor for NR CSG4 FST-E out of Dam Neck, VA. She completed a mobilization as Officer in Charge of the Military Detachment onboard USNS Carson City (T-EPF 7) supporting CTF-63.

She is currently on Active-Duty orders assigned the College of Information and Cyberspace at National Defense University as Military Faculty, where she is part of the JPME2 teaching faculty.

LCDR Fisher holds a Master of Science in Government Information Leadership (with dual concentrations in National Security and Cyberspace, and Ethics) from National Defense University, and Master of Science in I/O Psychology from Capella University.  Her decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Navy Commendation Medal, the Navy Achievement Medal (3 awards) and a variety of campaign and service awards.

In her civilian career, she serves as the Deputy for Future Operations (J35) at Cyber National Mission Force, a sub-unified command of USCYBERCOM in Fort George G. Meade, Maryland. She resides in Maryland.
