Michele Markoff is the inaugural Distinguished Scholar of the College of Information and Cyberspace at National Defense University, as well as recipient of the 2023 Rear Admiral Grace Hopper Award. For decades, Ms. Markoff had served as the senior State Department subject matter expert overseeing the development and implementation of foreign policy initiatives on cyberspace issues. She previously served as Deputy Coordinator for Cyber Issues in the Office of the Coordinator for Cyber Affairs, and most recently as the Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for International Cyberspace Security in the new Bureau of Cyberspace and Digital Policy.
