Dr. Elfriede Clanton

Dr. Clanton brings over thirty years of distinguished military and federal service to her role as an Adjunct Professor at the College of Information and Cyberspace. A retired U.S. Navy Cryptologic and Information Systems Technician, she served on various naval vessels and shore facilities, delivering mission-critical communications and cybersecurity capabilities.

After retiring from the military, Dr. Clanton continued her commitment to national security as a cybersecurity professional with the Department of Defense. Her civilian roles have included key cybersecurity positions at Commander, Pacific Fleet; the 5th Space Launch Squadron; Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard; Headquarters, U.S. Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM); the National Security Agency (NSA); and she is currently serving as the United States Air Force Cybersecurity Service Provider (CSSP) Governance Chief at the 16th Air Force, Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

Her academic credentials include a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from National University (2013), a Master of Arts in Human Resources (2015), and a Master of Science in Information Systems (2020) from Hawaii Pacific University, as well as a Doctor of Science in Cybersecurity from Marymount University (2024). She also graduated in 2025 from the Department of Defense Chief Information Officer (CIO) Leadership Development Program at the National Defense University. Dr. Clanton’s extensive real-world experience and academic background uniquely position her to mentor the next generation of cyber leaders in facing today’s evolving information security challenges.
