Dr. Cassandra C. Lewis is the Associate Dean of Academic Programs at the National Defense University College of Information and Cyberspace (CIC). She is responsible for ensuring that CIC academic programs and curricula are rigorous, relevant, and of high quality to effectively fulfill the mission of the College. As a principal advisor to the CIC Dean of Faculty and Academic Programs, she provides leadership and expertise to accomplish a wide range of strategic and operational priorities, including academic policy, student advising, faculty hiring and development, and accreditation. Prior to joining CIC, Dr. Lewis conducted research on effective online teaching practices at the Institute of Research and Assessment in Higher Education (IRAHE) at the University of Maryland University College, and has taught at numerous college and universities across the Washington, DC area. Dr. Lewis is an engaged community educator with demonstrated commitment to mentoring women and K-16 students, locally and abroad, for leadership and careers in STEM. Dr. Lewis holds a BA in the Interdisciplinary Social Sciences/International Studies from the State University of New York at Buffalo; MA in Higher Education from Boston College, and a Ph.D. in Education Policy from the University of Maryland, College Park.
