The National Defense University community is invited to attend the Chancellor's Lecture Series featuring Ambassador Alaina Teplitz, former Assistant Secretary of the Bureau of Administration and Under Secretary for Management, U.S. Department of State. The event will take place from 0900-1030 Wednesday, March 19, 2025. In-person attendance in Marshall Hall, room 155A/B, is encouraged.
Ambassador Teplitz’s distinguished career in the Foreign Service includes service as Ambassador to Sri Lanka and Maldives from 2018 to 2021, and as Ambassador to Nepal from 2015 to 2018. More recently, she served as the Assistant Secretary of the Bureau of Administration and performed the duties of the Under Secretary for Management. Ambassador Teplitz also served as Minister Counselor for Management at the U.S. Embassy in Kabul from 2011-2012. Her previous assignments also include Management Counselor in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and Deputy Director of the Joint Administrative Services supporting three U.S. Missions – the U.S. Mission to NATO, the U.S. Mission to the EU, and the U.S. Embassy to Belgium.
Ambassador Teplitz holds a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service and a Master’s in Public Administration from Indiana University’s School of Public and Environmental Affairs.
All lecture series events are part of PEC-6170, the Practicum, Experiential learning, and Capstone Exercise course. The purpose of the CLS is to complement the student curriculum and enhance CIC program learning outcomes.
