JMU to host Town Hall for new Virginia Cyber Security Commission and Cyber Intelligence Workshop
Event #1 - Cyber Intelligence Workshop - On Monday, April 20, the Office of Research and Scholarship and Intelligence Analysis Program will host a workshop on cyber intelligence. Cyber intelligence is the acquisition, monitoring, and analysis of information about cyber threat actors’ capabilities and activities so as to inform decision making (Software Engineering Institute, CMU, 2013). It is strategic and proactive perspectives to cybersecurity challenges. This event will provide an opportunity for government, academic, and industry leaders to discuss cyber analysis curriculum development, training, research and outreach opportunities, as well as the skill shortage in cyber intelligence. Event #2 - On Friday, April 24, JMU's Office of Research and Scholarship will host a 2nd event - a cyber security town hall to introduce the public to the newly created Virginia Cyber Security Commission. This event takes place from 2:30-4 p.m. in room 1301 of the Health and Human Service building on the JMU campus east of Interstate 81. The town hall event will feature keynote and panel presentations, as well as a question and answer session between the audience and commission members. The talks will cover a variety of cyber security topics including recent national hacks, federal and state programs, best practices, cyber education and cyber crime. Registration is required for the event and information can be found on the flyer. Parking for the event is available in lot D3.
