2024 Cyber Innovators Challenge Award Recipients Announced 1st Place University of Maryland, START: Modeling & Simulation of Hacktivism as a Social Contagion of Radicalization 

COUNTERING CYBERHACKTIVISM: The Department of Defense University Consortium for Cybersecurity (U2C) and the University of Maryland’s National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism. (UMD START) are partnering to better understand how cyber hacktivism spreads as a social contagion. This work seeks to partner with Defense and government agencies on identifying, mitigating, and countering cyber hacktivist campaigns.

On April 29, 2025, Booz Allen hosted the “Build it/Break it" Research Showcase at the iHub in Annapolis Junction, MD, bringing together key DoD and academic stakeholders to explore UC2 partnerships, engage with research teams, and collaboratively address mission-aligned cybersecurity challenges.
